Holy smokes. It is getting hot.

As you all have probably noticed, we basically went from slowly exiting winter to pretty much full summer. This weekend is looking mild, but next week is full sun with highs in the mid-80s.

So if there are any cooler weather activities you’ve been wanting to do - movie theater run, cozy lunch, bookstore stop, slower coffee shop morning, one last jacket walk - this might be one of the last weekends to do it.

But other than that, we’ve got a solid slate of things going on for this weekend’s gameplan - let’s get into it.

For the film buffs, the red carpet watchers, and the casually opinionated…

Yountville is hosting a free Oscars Viewing Party at the Local’s Lounge at Yountville Commons on Sunday, March 15 from 4:00 to 7:30 PM.

There’ll be red carpet watching, winner reactions, and a solid excuse to dress up a tiny bit if you feel like it.

Honestly, these kinds of things can be a great way to meet people too - especially if you are the type of film buff or red carpet person who’d rather watch with other people than at home on the couch.

Which, to be clear, is also a very valid option. Bowl of popcorn at home is still a strong Oscars setup. More my style, personally.

A great excuse to go visit our neighbors, and a wonderful bow-tie on the weekend if you ask me.

Congratulations to Blue Tin Fabrics on opening up shop next to Jeffries General - or possibly inside the same space, if I’m understanding it right.

Either way, they’re having a grand opening party today, and Jeffries General is celebrating its 5th birthday at the same time.

This is that little shop that always has the dog bowl and treats out front - some of you probably know exactly what I’m talking about.

Looks like a really neat stop if you are into fabrics, sewing, art supplies, and that whole dangerously easy-to-browse category of cute useful things.
