Happy Friday gang.

Hope you had a great week. I’ve been loving this weather - we’ve been spoiled. But it’s looking a little cloudy this weekend. And I guess a lot of rain - just not around here.

I saw this flood warning pop up so I wanted to throw it on your radar:

Coastal Flood Advisory (through noon Sunday)

  • Up to 1.4 ft of water in low-lying shoreline areas

  • Mainly SF Bay + San Pablo Bay shoreline spots

  • Could mean some flooded lots, parks, and a couple roads near high tide

  • If you’re driving over there: give yourself extra time and don’t drive through water

This is the Friday edition which is supposed to be the fun / funny one, but wanted to make sure you were all aware.

Ok now onto the good stuff. Stay dry.

My pick of the week (even though I’m late): A Local Gem

I gotta say, I love this place. New-ish shop, great selection of guitars, and the owner’s just a genuinely solid down to earth dude.

Tonewood & Courage.

And their events? So fun. It’s this intimate little venue vibe where you’ll walk by at night and end up stopping dead in your tracks like… wait, is someone in there absolutely crushing it?

Last night was “Tom Petty Open Mic Night”

Again, I am so sorry the timing didn’t work out to have this in time for the Friday Game Plan but if you follow on IG or Facebook you saw me posting it there in real time.

Anyway. RIP to the late great Tom Petty. And if you ever want a low-effort, high-vibe night out, keep an eye on their calendar (we will too)

Napa-Approved Classic

A staple for me. Napa Bowl.

Affordable, honest, cheap drinks. What’s not to love. If you’ve never been, there’s no time like the present.

This weekend they’re hosting the 6th Annual Gutter Ball Bowling Tournament (Going to a great cause - Horn Heart Foundation)

Bowling, food, drinks, karaoke, costumes encouraged.

You get randomly assigned to a team which is a really neat format. It’s also a legit tournament: you bowl one game, the winners advance, and the bracket keeps narrowing down until someone takes the crown.

Ticket sales were supposed to end on 1/15, but I’m hearing there might still be spots floating around. Either way, it’s still a great hang if you want to pop in and soak up the energy.

Here are the details and link to the event:

  • Saturday, Jan 31

  • Check-in 11:30am (tournament starts 1:05pm)

  • Napa Bowling Center - 494 Soscol Ave

Girl Scouts Unicorn Party

I have a soft spot for Girl Scouts. Not even for the cookies - for the absolute chaos of being handed a “leadership opportunity” at age 9 and being told to figure it out.

I only did it for a few years - but I weirdly credit it with a lot. It was one of the first things that got me out of my bubble - you had to talk to new people, show up even when you felt shy, and just… participate. Small thing, big impact.

So if you’ve ever been even mildly curious for your daughter, there’s a free Unicorn Party happening at Alston Park Sunday, Feb 1 from 1 pm to 2 pm PST.

Girls do the fun stuff, parents can get the quick rundown on joining.

Meme of the week.

When someone tries to ask my where to taste “the best wine”

Sorry all, bit of a shorter one this week

Bit pressed on time but I would rather answer emails at a red light than skip an issue.

Callie.
