Howdy and congrats.

You made it to the end of the week.
I did too, barely. Still stuck in that new year slog where your brain is moving like it’s on hotel wifi.

Anyways - quick refresher on what’s going on:

This is Callie. I help run the Napa Lowdown.
If you caught the last one, welcome back!

This our Friday edition: weekend plans, little surprises, and basically just some excited group chat energy.

Let’s get into it.

Nextdoor Post(s) of the Week

Surprising drama. Crazy takes. And the occasional “are we really doing this in public” moment. This is the app where it all goes down…

If you’ve never used it, Nextdoor is supposed to be a local social network where when you sign up by verifying the neighborhood you live in. Maybe it’s just me (I’m in Old Town) but my feed sometimes just feels like a reality TV show.

So if you find yourself or a loved one in this segment, nothing personal, just business…

1. The “Tree War” genre is undefeated.

A fence-line tree trimming dispute escalated into a full courtroom-thread vibe. There are lawyers involved, a “notice” agreement, and apparently this has been going on forever.

Also: the photo is doing a lot of work here. That ‘Notice!’ sign posted right above the fence is giving the mosttt petty energy. You can just tell this has moved past ‘hey neighbor’ and into ‘my attorney will be in touch’ territory.

If you’ve never seen a neighbor feud over a fence line, you haven’t lived.

2. This Made Me Smile

On a brighter note - Nextdoor randomly served me actual joy for once.

Shoutout to Sue Irving - this dragonfly artwork is legitimately beautiful.

But back to our regularly scheduled programming.
Weekend plans below, starting with the free-ish ones:

Open Mic Night at DECANT

DECANT does open mic every third Saturday (poetry, music, stories, comedy - whatever you’ve got).

You can just watch, or sign up at the door. It’s free with a bar purchase, and the vibe is very “accidentally discover someone insanely talented.”

A bit off the main downtown drag, but worth the hang.

The Napa Lighted Art Festival

If you need a plan that requires zero planning: here it is.

Walk around downtown, look at glowing art, pretend you’re a person who does culture, go home.

Full game plan is in Monday’s edition if you want to get the most bang for your buck. But the preview of all the exhibits are in the flyer below:

Midday Metal

If you’ve got even a tiny bit of metal in your bloodstream, Folklore is doing a Megadeath release party.

Their poster isn’t super clear, but it looks like it’s Saturday the 24th at noon. Go hang, have a drink, and celebrate Dave Mustaine being Dave Mustaine.

This isn’t usually my lane, but a noon event that still feels like a night out? Respect Folklore.

Parents Win: Movie, Popcorn, and Something to Do After

Flavors of Film is back!

Every fourth Sunday of the month, CIA at Copia does a super wholesome reset - a family movie, then interactive food stuff after.

This week’s film is Abominable.
Doors at 1:30 PM.

It’s basically: kids get entertained, you get to sit down, and everyone ends up with a snack situation.

Pricing is kind of confusing (it looks like roughly $5-10+, and kids can be a little more) so I’d just check the ticket page for your exact combo:

That’s it for this week.

Btw - from Monday’s First St. construction question: someone told me there’s no bathroom up in that crane.

May their knees and bladder be stronger than mine.

See you Monday. Callie.
