Happy holiday weekend to those who celebrate.
I would say this is one of the neatest, tidiest Friday Game Plan issues I’ve put together in a while.
Two live music things for Friday
Two Easter/kid things for Saturday
If you ask me, this is peak Napa - clock out, head downtown, sit at a bar in perfect weather, watch the river roll by, probably run into an old friend, and listen to some local jams.
Then maybe get a little too rowdy Friday night, rally, and drag the kids into something in the park the next morning.
Shall we?
The Best Spot On The River
Pretty much every Friday it feels like Wilfred’s has something going on up there.
Now, I’ve actually never been, so I can’t speak to how hard it is to get a spot on the roof or what the whole setup is like, but it always looks like it’s popping.
This week they’ve got repeat guest Robert Gastelum, who’s Napa-born and Berklee-trained, with Cobey Gong on bass and Hassan Hurd on drums - kind of a jazzy reggae vibe.
No reservations needed, but they do recommend them.

Details:
Friday, April 3
6:00 - 9:00 PM
Wilfred’s Lounge, 967 1st St, Napa
The OGs Will Remember
The early Lowdowners will know how highly I speak of Tonewood & Courage.
But if you’re new, I just love the vibe there. It’s in that stone shopping area downtown (Maker’s Market), right by Deuces (the cafe/juice bar place), and then you pop into this super intimate little venue.
Anyways, I’ve shouted out this trio before and they seem to be regulars, so if you ended up making it after the first recommendation, they’re back.

Details:
Friday, April 3
Doors 7:00 PM / Show 8:00 PM
Tonewood & Courage, 1300 First Street, #212, Napa
Tickets are around $25
It Was Mobbed Last Week
Ok now on to Saturday,
Bel Aire Plaza is doing another Bunny Hop Easter event with photos at the north entrance of Whole Foods.
Last week this area was kind of popping - people were wrapped way out toward the Whole Foods pickup side.
But the main idea is the same: bring your own camera and get the kid Easter moment without having to really overcomplicate it
A pretty easy one if you are already going to be over there anyway, or just want a quick festive stop with the kids.

One thing to note: the Bel Aire page lists it as “Saturday, April 3,” which is a mismatched day/date, so I would double-check before heading over (but I’m assuming it’s Saturday like last week)

Easter At Kennedy
Another easy Easter weekend-type thing with the kids.
If you haven’t caught on by now, Napa Kids is a great resource to check in on for younger-kid events.
Their events like this always seems to be good - outdoors, kid-focused, pretty straightforward.
This time it looks like they planned a lot of spring-themed activities too, so it could feel a little more structured than just a basic pop-in.
A nice one if you want something simple, local, and geared toward younger kids.

So…I have been looking at some other newsletters for inspiration lately, and I’m curious what else you all subscribe to.
I personally think it would be awesome to add something a little more fun in here over time - a puzzle, a game, maybe something like how newspapers always had a crossword.
Would love to hear your thoughts! But regardless, I’ll keep trying to make these more fun for you all, especially if I start seeing a common theme in the feedback.
Have a great weekend and see you Monday
Callie
